Get Started with Healthcare Processing

Complete this setup before you process healthcare authorizations or sales.

Confirm SIGIS certification if you are not a healthcare merchant

Non-healthcare retailers must certify with the Special Interest Group for IIAS Standards, Inc. (SIGIS) and use the Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS) before accepting Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) cards. Healthcare merchants, such as doctors' offices, hospitals, and clinics, are generally not required to certify. See Health Benefit Card Acceptance.

Set up REST compliant communications

Set up your payment processing system to be REST compliant. If you have not set up secure communications between your client and server using either JSON Web Token (JWT) or HTTP signature messaging, see Getting Started with REST.

Identify healthcare transactions in your requests

Set paymentInformation.card.productSubtype to HC and include the healthCareInformation.amountDetails fields for each qualifying purchase category in your authorization and sale requests. See Authorizations for the full list of required fields.
